R12 03-2 - Christ Pantocrator

The Pantocrator. The term comes from the Greek and is the definition of the substance of Christ: He is the whole, He sustains the whole, He contains the whole, He is everywhere. The term Pantocrator ( from the Greek "Pan" that is, all and "Kratos" power, indicates the one who governs the Universe) belongs only and indistinctly to God, by virtue of the incarnation of the Word, by merit and will' only of God himself, passes of right to Jesus Christ, Incarnate Word through the work of the Holy Spirit. To indicate the Sovereign Christ who holds the world together and who gives life its true fundamental meaning. The book, carried on the left hand, represents the center of paradise and in the Apocalypse is identified with the tree of life.
